The Royal Iwere Foundation’s Wuwu Ore medical outreach held its third edition yesterday in the Koko community, marking a significant moment in the first Coronation anniversary of His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri.
The initiative was founded with the mission to improve the health and wellbeing of communities in the riverine areas, where access to healthcare remains limited. This time, however, the outreach took a new direction. In recognising the lack of birth certificates among many children in the region—a crucial document for their future—the Foundation distributed birth certificates to 600 children in Koko.
This move is a first step towards securing a brighter future for the Itsekiri people, ensuring they have both a voice and an identity in society under the leadership of our great king. Looking ahead, the Foundation is committed to expanding this initiative across all Itsekiri communities, laying the foundation for long-term social progress and healthcare improvements in Koko and the broader Iwere region.
The Wuwu Ore Initiative is not only about health but also about investing in the future of our children, ensuring they have the necessary documentation and resources to succeed.
