This foundation was born out of a strategic rethink of the Warri Kingdom from the lens of its people, its socio-economic potential and the limitless possibilities for growth and advancement via education and upskilling across various demographics.
RIF, an African non profit organisation founded in December 2021, aims to assist the Warri Kingdom by effectively tackling obstacles and vulnerabilities that could hinder the state's continuous development and its capacity to compete internationally
Real stories from those empowered by the Royal Iwere Foundation.
First of all I will start by saying: I personally read through this beautiful creed every morning as my daily affirmation because every word used resonate with me. I had a lot of barriers from impostor syndrome to fear of failure and also perfectionism but right now from this training I have learnt to break out from it. Being an introvert was one of my challenges in running my business because I had been finding it difficult to network but on this training we were taught that our network is our net worth and I started networking and also collaborating which has improved my business in this past weeks. Knowing my Archetype as a woman has been a great eye opener for me and that I have a trait to achieve everything I envision myself to achieve. I want to use this medium to appreciate our Queen for this great opportunity granted to me to be mentored by great minds.
The training has really influenced me by making me to really know who I am by overcoming fear, negative thoughts. I have discovered, identify and facing the fear. Am grateful to God and to her Royal majesty for this opportunity. My mind has been transformed, shifted, and my confidence confidence has been built to change my story because am unstoppable, invisible and ready to build the future I envision.
My journey with the Royal Iwere Foundation began in 2023, just after NYSC. I signed up for a training
on Event Planning and Business Management, hosted by the Foundation in partnership with Zapphaire
Events and Brad E., while still unsure how to grow My Warri Picnic, a luxury picnic concept I'd been
toying with. That training was a turning point. I didn't just learn about business; I found clarity. I
discovered how to define my niche in a competitive industry, how to manage projects under pressure,
and how to collaborate rather than compete. I learnt to integrate digital tools into my work and saw
firsthand the value of building a strong network.
Since then, My Warri Picnic has grown into a registered eco-tourism and creative leisure brand. We
transform green spaces into vibrant venues while promoting environmental awareness, community
engagement, and supporting local artisans. I've planned events across Warri, Delta State, and even
Ghana. The most fulfilling part? I now serve as a volunteer with the Royal Iwere Foundation,
supporting programmes like Women Allying Women and the EstablishHer Entrepreneurship Fund. I get to
give back using the same skills I once gained. EstablishHer didn't just open a door; it gave me the
confidence to walk the hallway. Through My Warri Picnic, I'm creating experiences, transferring
knowledge, and reimagining spaces.
My name is Jessica Ugbobor. I'm 25, an Events Planner and Projects Manager, and thanks to
EstablishHer, I'm carving my niche and greening the future.
I always knew I had a gift, but for a long time, I lacked direction. After my broadcasting career ended, I went through a season of uncertainty until I joined the Royal Iwere Foundation's beauty training programme. It was a turning point that gave me clarity, confidence, and the support I needed to launch my own salon. Today, I lead Glamalert Makeup Artistry, serve as the 6th Deltan Queen, and proudly give back through the Foundation's volunteer network. The journey wasn't just about building a business, it was about finding purpose and helping others rise too.
Just as it says "power of the mind", I usually have this feeling that I need a big support to be able to make it especially from my family and I wasn't even getting that support yet from anyone. So this phase has helped me to start seeing myself in a different perspective that I really need to stop putting so much load on myself, I need to start nurturing new beliefs and I'm responsible to lead myself. Of which I have been having this constant affirmation that "I will surely make it big".
Firstly, I want to sincerely thank Olori for this incredible opportunity. It has truly been a turning
point for me. I recently relaunched my business, and attending this program came at just the right
time. This program helped me realize I still had internal battles to conquer, low self esteem, self
doubt, and fear of putting myself out there.
Through this journey, I've learned so much. I've realized that I can't keep downpricing myself with
self-criticism. I need to embrace self-love, think bigger, and let go of past traumas and limiting
beliefs that may have been holding me back.
This experience has reignited my dream not just to be a local business owner, but to go international.
Seeing other women who are already walking this path has been incredibly inspiring. They're a light
reminding me: "You can be there too."
One thing that stuck with me from our last session was this: What you think and what you see is
powerful. If you think small, you stay small. But if you think big, you grow big.
So once again, I deeply appreciate Olori and the entire Royal Iwere team for this opportunity. Thank
you for pouring into me and helping me believe in my greatness again.
It has help me a lot in the sense that I used to look down on my self bcos of what people say about my body size but not anymore and I have put in so many of the idea and teaching from all our wonderful facilitators and my fellow sister's and am already seeing changes am so grateful for this journey with my establish her family and if could this over and over again and I would thank u her majesty for this wonderful experience I luv Ma.
This program has impacted my life alot. It has taken away my fears. I have the confidence and boldness to stand on my word especially to customers. It has made me to know starting of business is possible not only waiting for millions before you can start. It has reshaped my mindset and mentality in a positive way. I have been shifted in so many ways in this short period of time. I have learnt to always show up in many ways no matter what. I have learnt to be a giver even more than the way I use to give because there is a blessings attached to it. Most especially be more closer to God and take my spiritual life more serious.
It has change my whole idea about my business, and it have create the anger and a crave for expansion and in short note am going to show up no matter the limitations.
Before Phase One of the EstablishHer Training, I often doubted my abilities due to internalized beliefs about what I could achieve as a woman entrepreneur. Learning about the power of the mind helped me reframe my thoughts I started visualizing success and setting intentional goals. The training's focus on internal biases opened my eyes to how I was holding myself back with assumptions about my worth. Since then, I've taken bolder steps in my business, like pitching to new clients, and I feel more confident in my personal life, trusting my instincts and embracing my unique path.
I used to be very scared thinking I was not good enough, people only come to me whenever they need something or they needed it for a cheaper amount and just because I wanted to make sales I would sell it even though I was getting losses but now I have learned to say NO without explaining myself.
The training has help me in my communication skills with my costumer to be confident in myself daily affirmation. It's has improved my understanding about pricing making to has a business core values. The training has help so far that I now know that building a legacy is better than just be a business woman.
Honestly speaking alot has changed this past week's, I no longer listen to side talks or people trying to talk me down or less, even the negative things that strike my mind I rebuck them immediately. No single day pass that I don't affirm positively. I never thought I would find myself in a gathering like this everything is actually working perfectly for my favour. A Registered Nurse whom just graduated from University and she is planning to grow her business is here enjoying every bit of this training its a huge privilege thank You Olori, that you Iwere foundation.
