Homecoming: First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu Invested as Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu at Aghofen in Warri Kingdom

On Thursday, February 26, 2026, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, arrived at Aghofen in the Warri Kingdom, where she was formally invested as Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom.

The reception carried the feeling of a homecoming. The people of Iwere welcomed not only the First Lady of Nigeria, but a daughter of the South-South whose journey had returned her to the soil that shaped her, now bearing the weight and honour of Nigeria's First Family.

A Gathering That Reflected the Moment

The investiture drew a distinguished assembly that signalled the significance of the day. Present were His Excellency Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State, and Her Excellency Mrs Tobore Oborevwori, alongside His Excellency Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON.

His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, graced the occasion, as did the Dein of Agbor, revered traditional rulers from across the federation, distinguished Ojoyes of Iwere, and recipients of the Royal Order of Iwere.

Honours That Mean Something

In recognition of Her Excellency's unwavering dedication to the Nigerian people, His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, conferred upon Senator Oluremi Tinubu the chieftaincy title of Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom and invested her in the Royal Order of Iwere (ROI).

These were not honorary gestures. They were the Kingdom's formal declaration that her service, her story, and her commitment to the nation are seen, honoured, and bound to the Warri Kingdom's living legacy.

Beyond the Ceremony: Serving the People

The Royal Iwere Foundation's role on the day extended beyond witness. The Foundation coordinated the distribution of welfare relief items to more than 1,500 individuals and provided critical technical support for the disbursement of empowerment resources to over 200 women from the Office of the First Lady of Delta State.

In doing so, a historic investiture became a direct and tangible act of community service. This remains the Foundation's consistent posture: wherever the Kingdom's platform shines, the Foundation ensures that its light reaches the people who need it most.

Special appreciation was also extended to the Olobe community, who honoured the occasion with warmth and flair while observing their sacred Ghigho Aghofen watch, a reminder that in the Warri Kingdom, tradition and celebration are never in conflict.

The Beginning of More

This investiture was not an ending. It was the Warri Kingdom doing what it has always done: drawing Nigeria's most significant voices into a lasting relationship with its heritage, its people, and its purpose.

More visits will come. More connections will be forged. The Kingdom will meet them all with the same open arms it extended on this day.
